It’s not just our visual senses that need nurturing at home. Scent is a powerful and often underestimated way to lift mood and shift perspective. Smell has an extraordinary ability to trigger emotion and memory, instantly changing how a space feels. We burn our Ticking Rose candles throughout the house and adore the atmosphere they create – comforting, familiar, inspiring and grounding. We are also endlessly inspired by every scent release from Ffern. Their current Winter 26 is beautiful, and their new candle is on our Wishlist. Diptyque is somewhere we always return to for iconic fragrance – their new flagship store in London is well worth a visit to be inspired by the power of scent and all the many opportunities to include it in the home.

Material Gains

Retail therapy is very real. While we’re all guilty of the occasional frivolous purchase, investing in a piece of furniture that genuinely brings joy – and will last a lifetime – is deeply rewarding. We designed our Studio Chair and Studio Stool to enhance any space they inhabit. The chair can command attention upholstered in our Studio Stripe linen or become a cosy retreat in sheepskin. January has a way of feeling endlessly grey, but thoughtful lighting can transform a home instantly. Warm bulbs (around 2700K) are essential, and we always favour multiple low-level light sources over a single overhead light. Creating pockets of light makes a space feel softer, warmer and far more inviting. Our new lighting collection designed with Original BTC celebrates hand-blown glass in a palette of Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla shades. Nothing boosts the mood quite like filling your home with friends and family. Force Of Nature

We love bringing the outside in. Throughout winter we grow paperwhites, which add texture, life and an incredible scent once in bloom. We also plant hyacinth bulbs and bring delicate geraniums and pelargoniums indoors too over winter, ensuring the house stays filled with greenery all season long. Even in the dead of winter, there is so much beauty outdoors. We often return from countryside walks with armfuls of branches to arrange in vases, or bowls using a flower frog. It’s a simple, inexpensive and effective way to add life and visual interest to a home. Never head out for a winter walk without secateurs!
