WHERE TO EAT

There are so many places to have an amazing Mexican meal with a nice long sobremesa…

Máximo

A Mexico City institution. Seasonal ingredients, beautiful produce and an effortlessly elegant dining room make this one of the city’s most beloved restaurants. Perfect for dinner after a day walking through Roma.

Havre

Tucked inside a townhouse in Juárez, Havre has a warm Paris-meets-Mexico atmosphere with incredible seafood and candlelit dinners that always feel romantic and intimate.

La Bomvi

A newer favorite with an atmosphere that feels distinctly Mexico City — creative, cool and unpretentious. Great cocktails, beautiful interiors and a fun crowd.

Er Rre

A place with incredible energy and a more contemporary approach to Mexican dining. Stylish without trying too hard, with bold flavors and a scene that always makes for a memorable night out. This is my favorite date-night destination with my husband.

Comal Oculto

One of the most exciting dining experiences in the city right now. Hidden, atmospheric and deeply rooted in Mexican ingredients and technique, it feels both contemporary and ancestral at the same time.

Lardo

One of my favorite places for breakfast or a late lunch. The terrace is always buzzing, the pastries are excellent and the menu mixes Mediterranean influences with the relaxed spirit of the city.

Issi

A beautiful option in Lomas with a sophisticated atmosphere that still feels relaxed and intimate. Perfect for a long lunch or dinner with friends, with elevated Mexican cuisine and a crowd that always feels effortlessly chic.

Contramar

Always a classic. This is kind of place that captures the spirit of Mexico City perfectly — vibrant, loud, fresh and full of energy. The tuna tostadas and pescado a la talla are legendary for a reason, and lunch here can easily become an all-afternoon affair.

San Angel Inn

Such a classic – one of the most beautiful and atmospheric restaurants in Mexico City. Set inside a historic hacienda in San Ángel, it feels timeless: lush gardens, white tablecloths, old-world charm and a kind of cinematic Mexican elegance that is impossible not to love. Perfect for a long afternoon lunch that slowly turns into sunset margaritas.

Paris 16

I absolutely love their milanesa, the perfect comfort plate at this restaurant.

Nieve de Olla

This is my go-to for ice-cream.

COFFEE SPOTS

Goya Taller and Ruta De La Seda

I love to buy hot conchas and coffee in front of Plaza Uruguay, and I’m a regular at both these nearby spots.

Crissis

Here they serve the best matcha and coffee with special plant-based milk

Chiquitito Café

There are many around the city, my favorite is in Condesa, where you can sit at a bench outside and enjoy a quiet, sunny day.

WINE BARS & NIGHT SPOTS

Natas Wines

A tiny spot to enjoy a glass of natural wine and listen to great music. Intimate, relaxed and always filled with the kind of crowd that makes you want to stay for one more glass.

Rimessa

Part wine shop, part gathering place. Perfect for a spontaneous wine tasting or a casual glass while chatting with everyone there – warm, unpretentious and deeply neighborhood-oriented.

Hugo Wine Bar

A classic wine spot in Mexico City that never disappoints. Great bottles, beautiful atmosphere and the kind of place that always feels effortlessly cool.

Bar Niño

One of the city’s coolest places for late-night drinks – energetic, stylish and always buzzing. Perfect for starting or ending the night.

WHERE TO SHOP

Escalina

A beautifully curated space with a refined point of view, timeless pieces, thoughtful objects and the kind of understated elegance that feels very Mexico City.

Chava Studio

Here’s where to find the absolute best shirts. Effortless, perfectly cut and incredibly chic in that quiet, sophisticated way that always works.

Onora

This store always has an amazing selection of Mexican pieces — beautifully crafted objects, textiles and homewares that feel both contemporary and deeply rooted in Mexican tradition.

Lengua

Home to incredible jewellery with a sculptural, modern sensibility. Pieces that feel bold yet timeless, and unmistakably connected to Mexican craftsmanship and artistry.

Ticuchi

A beautiful mezcal-forward space by Enrique Olvera with dramatic interiors and incredible energy. Dimly lit, atmospheric and very Mexico City after dark.

ART AND ARQUITECTURE

Mexico City has one of the most exciting art scenes in the world, deeply rooted in history yet constantly evolving. What I love most is the mix of architecture, contemporary art and the feeling that creativity exists everywhere across the city.

Kurimanzutto

One of the most important contemporary galleries in Latin America, the program is always thoughtful and internationally relevant, but still feels connected to Mexico City’s creative energy. Even the architecture and bookstore are worth the visit.

Casa Luis Barragán

Book an architecture tour of the Barragán houses. Each one of them has its own beauty and each place completely changes the way you think about light, colour and space. Barragán’s own house is emotional, quiet and incredibly inspiring – every detail feels intentional and poetic. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the city.

OMR

A gallery that has helped define Mexico City’s contemporary art landscape for decades. The exhibitions are consistently strong and the space itself feels minimal, modern and very connected to the international art world. They also have LagoAlgo, a cultural space you should check out.

Casa Lamm

A classic cultural institution in Roma housed inside a beautiful historic mansion. I love spending an afternoon here walking through the exhibitions, having coffee in the courtyard and soaking in the literary, artistic atmosphere that feels so characteristic of the city.

BOOKS & MORE

Librería Utópicas

A beautifully curated independent bookstore with a thoughtful perspective. Small, intimate and full of discoveries that could change your life.

Librería de Gallina Guinea

A gastronomic bookstore where you can spend hours. If you love food and cooking, this is the place to be.

La Americana

Part café, part cultural meeting point – relaxed, creative and perfect for slow afternoons with coffee and magazines.

Biblioteca Vasconcelos

One of the most extraordinary libraries I’ve ever visited. Monumental, cinematic and almost surreal in scale, it feels like stepping into another world, a masterpiece of contemporary architecture and public space.

Fondo de Cultura Económica

A true Mexico City institution. I love walking through the bookstores and discovering art books, literature and beautifully designed editions that reflect the city’s intellectual and cultural life.

MY HAPPY PLACES

Audiorama Bosque de Chapultepec

This is a perfect quiet space in the city. And of course my own home is a very special place to me!
